The furthest from the sea, with a dramatic diurnal range and altitudes above 1,000 m. Drier than the rest of the DOC and exposed to warmer winds, with intense and prolonged sunlight. Excellent for nerello cappuccio and carricante; nerello mascalese here gives deeper colour, pungent aromatics and a more rustic, tannic profile.
