About
Founded 2008. The Falcone family estate sits in the hills above Santa Maria di Licodia in Contrada Cavaliere. In 1990, when very few producers were operating on Mount Etna, the family began replanting, retraining, and reorganizing old vines and terraces on their 4-hectare property using cordon vine training. They worked with agronomist Giovanni Marletta and later engaged a consulting winery for modern winemaking, aging, and bottling. First release was Aitho, a pure Nerello Mascalese named after an ancient nickname for Mount Etna. Portfolio now includes Etna Rosato, Etna Bianco, a Nerello Mascalese vinified in white, and IGT/IGP Terre Siciliane wines. Produces 5,000 bottles annually. Also: +39 348-726-4350. Visits by request: vineyard tour, wine tasting. Small groups (<15), family and pet friendly. Languages: Italian, English, Spanish. Wines to try: Aitho Etna Rosso, Aitho Etna Bianco, Aton Vino Bianco.
