Founded 1988 by Dr. Giuseppe Benanti, a pharmacist, using Carricante, Nerello, and other indigenous varieties. After two decades of research and development, twin sons Salvino and Antonio joined in 2012. The team completed a decade-long study of indigenous Etna yeasts for use in production. Identified and planted sites for small-batch productions of Carricante, Nerello Mascalese, and Nerello Cappuccio, with focus exclusively on Etna. Estate based in Viagrande at the base of Monte Serra. 30 hectares across four contrade: Dafara Galluzzo, Rinazzo, Monte Serra, and Cavaliere. Vine training: alberello and cordon.
