Founded 1898 by Francesco Nicosia, who opened a shop in Trecastagni to sell wine, blending and making vino da pasto from select sites among the southeast craters. Family carried on the tradition for five generations, expanding to Catania and Vittoria. At the end of the twentieth century, the business underwent major renovation including construction of a modern winery and broad vineyard improvements at Monte Gorna. Today, Carmelo Nicosia works alongside sons Francesco and Graziano, with winemaker Maria Carella. The winery includes a lounge bar, restaurant, educational tours, and a wine shop. Produces 250,000 bottles annually. Visits seven days a week: vineyard tour, winery tour, palmento tour, wine tasting, lunch, dinner. Small (<15) and large (15+) groups.
