The Platania family has made wine at this Contrada Cavaliere site since 1880; production lulled during the twentieth century before Margherita Platania relaunched in 2008, restoring the ancient palmento and dispensa. During restoration grapes were sold to the local winemaking community, and wine production returned to the estate eight years later.
