About

Boutique label. Mirella Buscemi shifted from pharmacology to wine; grew up in southeast Sicily where her family made wine regularly. Introduced to Mount Etna through spouse Alberto Aiello Graci. A small old-vine alberello vineyard of little more than one hectare completed the conversion. Nerello in the vineyard is spiced with Alicante (Etna’s version of Grenache Noir); Carricante is supported by Grecanico. Wines named Tartaraci, for the northwest slope neighborhood at 980 meters AMSL, once part of the Ducea di Nelson. Wine to try: Tartaraci Etna Bianco (Carricante-Grecanico), Tartaraci Etna Rosso (Nerello-Alicante).
