Federico Curtaz has made wine on Mount Etna since 2007, when he helped launch Tenuta di Fessina in Rovittello. Since 2015 he has consulted for several producers on Etna. New wines under his own name developed from his extensive knowledge of Mount Etna and Southeastern Sicily. Two Etna DOC wines: Gamma, a juicy Etna Bianco from Milo; and Il Purgatorio, a territorial Etna Rosso from the ancient soils around Biancavilla. Second red Ananke — the first wine ever to carry his name — arrives from Nero d’Avola grown around Siracusa in calcareous clay. Wines to try: Gamma Etna Bianco, Il Purgatorio Etna Rosso, Ananke Nero d’Avola.
