About

Founded 1978 by Maria Gambino and Vittorio Raciti, who grew up on Etna’s eastern flank in Zafferana Etnea and Acireale. Vittorio engineered cement fabrications during the week; Etna offered a peaceful weekend getaway. In 1979 they built on land in Contrada Petto Dragone — meaning the breast of the dragon — in the hills above Linguaglossa, planting a small vineyard. Vittorio expanded terrace by terrace as demand grew. In 2000, children Maria Grazia, Delfo, and Francesco joined the company, having grown up in the vineyards on the northeast slope. From 800 meters AMSL, the estate overlooks northeast Sicily, the mountains, Calabria, and the sea. Modern winery welcomes thousands of visitors annually for educational cellar tours.
