Founded 1950. The Russo family has worked in Castiglione since the nineteenth century. After WWII, the family began bottling and selling wines from a depot in Giarre. The modern winery is located in Contrada Crasa, just north of Solicchiata. Francesco Russo leads winemaking today with his father Vincenzo; sister Gina and her partner Robert promote the wines. Francesco maintains a photo library of every plant that grows on the mountain, with close attention to spontaneous vineyard vegetation. Produces still and classic method sparkling wines from three contrade. 12 hectares across Contrade Crasa, Piano dei Daini, and Rampante; vine training: alberello and cordon. Produces 150,000 bottles annually. Visits by request: vineyard tour, winery tour, wine tasting, lunch. Small (<15) and large (15+) groups. Event space, Wi-Fi, family and pet friendly.
