The Russo family has worked in Castiglione since the nineteenth century; after WWII the family began bottling and selling wines from a depot in Giarre, and the modern winery is now located in Contrada Crasa. Francesco Russo leads winemaking today with his father Vincenzo, while sister Gina and her partner Robert promote the wines. Francesco maintains a photo library of every plant that grows on the mountain, with close attention to spontaneous vineyard vegetation.
