After a century of trading wine in bulk, the Calcagno family launched their label with consulting wineries before opening their own cantina in Passopisciaro in time for the 2016 harvest. The family conducted an aging experiment, delivering cases of wine to the INGV observatory near the summit and holding a public side-by-side tasting two years later — wines aged near the central crater proved fresher than those held within the DOC zone.
