About

Founded 2002. Estate traces origins to Carmine Trefiletti, who planted vineyards around Castiglione on the north flank after his family briefly emigrated to America in the early nineteenth century and returned to Sicily. Wines were shipped annually from the Port of Riposto to locations around the Mediterranean. The winery is continued today by Rocco Trefiletti, with vineyards on the northeast slope around Piedimonte Etneo and Linguaglossa. Vines managed organically using cordon training at 500-700 meters AMSL; vine arms kept short and close to the trunk to concentrate flavor. Manual harvest. Wines vinified at cool temperatures and held until release only if vintage meets quality standards; if grapes do not reach full maturity, wines are declassified or sold in bulk. Also: +39 333-906-9834. 3 hectares across Contrade Martinella, Pomiciaro, and Terremorte; vine training: cordon. Produces 8,000 bottles annually. Visits by request: vineyard tour, palmento tour, wine tasting. Small groups (<15). Family and pet friendly. Languages: Italian, English. Wine to try: Etna Bianco.
