Founded by Trente Hargrave and Filip Kesteloot, whose path to Etna wound through the Italian Embassy in Pakistan, an art gallery in Belgium, and an impromptu cup of tea while vacationing in Sicily. The vineyard in Contrada Mollarella lies outside the DOC volcanic borders in white clay — cool, moist soils producing a darker, fruitier, softer Nerello Mascalese, a territory few producers have explored. Filip built the boutique winery over several years while restoring buildings around Etna; Trente published a memoir.
