Founded 2008. In 2007-2008, Nino Bevilacqua identified, bought, and merged 44 continuous derelict vineyards over 89 acres (36 ha) in Contrada Bocca d’Orzo. The estate spans a 1,000-foot vertical climb following the eastern edge of the 1981 lava flow; a winding path through an old forest connects all the vineyards. Fully restored modern-rustic estate. Famed Italian enologist Riccardo Cotarella oversees winemaking. Nino’s daughter Alessia Bevilacqua is active at the estate. Portfolio: two dark, rich, extracted Nerello-based reds; a third blending Nerello Mascalese and Petit Verdot; a pure Pinot Nero; traditional method sparkling from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero; and a Nerello Mascalese vinified as a white. 36 hectares in Contrada Bocca d’Orzo; vine training: alberello, Guyot, and cordon.
