Nino Bevilacqua identified, bought, and merged 44 continuous derelict vineyards in Contrada Bocca d’Orzo; the estate spans a 1,000-foot vertical climb following the eastern edge of the 1981 lava flow, with a winding path through an old forest connecting all the vineyards. Famed enologist Riccardo Cotarella oversees winemaking; daughter Alessia Bevilacqua is active at the estate. Portfolio includes dark, rich Nerello-based reds, Pinot Nero, traditional method sparkling, and a Nerello Mascalese vinified as a white.
