Named after the Alcantara River, which borders the estate, with vineyards spanning a broad plateau along the Etna DOC’s northernmost border. In the early twentieth century, the farm was part of one of the largest properties between Randazzo and Passopisciaro, with some original vines still in production. During WWII the farm was used as a campsite for a military hospital, and decades later many old alberelli were grubbed up and burned before the remaining vines were reorganized into rows.
