About

Founded 2013 by the Lombardo di Villalonga family, who have grown grapes and sold them to local producers since 1864. In 2013 they began working their old vines in Contrade Taccione and Nave with the intention of producing and bottling their own wine. In 2016 they went for it. Name Paratore derived from the Latin word for ready — ready for anything. A barrique of Nerello stored in a garage for half a decade endured summer heat and cold Etna winters yet emerged younger, more stable, and less delicate than other reds, reflecting generations of connection to the mountain and its vines. 10 hectares across two contrade: Taccione and Nave. Vine training: alberello and cordon. Visits by request: vineyard tour, wine tasting. Small (<15) and large (15+) groups. Family and pet friendly. Languages: Italian, English. Wines to try: Etna Bianco, 1864 Etna Rosso, Giovanni Paratore Etna Rosso Riserva.
