The Etna project of the Donnafugata estate (Rallo family, founded in Marsala). In Contrada Marchesa prephylloxera and old-vine Nerello are surrounded on three sides by the 1566 lava flow, with mounds of cooled lava blocking light for hours and producing more elegant fruit. Winemaker Nino Santoro led years of trial vinifications from various mountain sites before committing to the estate’s direction.
