Founded 1998 by Rosario Licciardello and his wife Santina Cipolla. The family had deep winemaking roots — their grandfather was a capu at one of the local palmenti. By the 1990s the family had stopped making wine; in 2001 Rosario began replanting and reorganizing the family vines in the high valley behind Monte Gorna, a lateral volcanic crater formed in 396 BCE. Varieties planted: Carricante, Catarratto, Nerello Mascalese, and Nerello Cappuccio, in fertile volcanic sands surrounded by a pine forest, ginestra, olive and fruit trees, and wildflowers. Also: +39 338-982-3870. 4.5 hectares across Contrade Monte Gorna and Carpene; vine training: alberello and cordon. Produces 18,000 bottles annually. Visits by request: vineyard tour, winery tour, wine tasting, lunch, dinner. Small (<15) and large (15+) groups. Family and pet friendly. Languages: Italian, English, Spanish. Wines to try: Etna Bianco, Etna Rosso, Etna Rosso (Barrique).
