Founded by Giovanni Ferlito, Aurelio Marconi, and Gianluca Strano, who purchased an old alberello vineyard on top of the spent crater Monte Rosso on Etna’s southeast flank. Monte Rosso (Red Mountain) is named for the oxidized iron in the volcanic soil, and the vineyard has undergone an official vine audit to catalog variety composition and performance.
