About
Founded 1877. The Gangemi family has traded wine on Etna since 1877, beginning as winegrowers and merchants before operating as a family winery. Fourth generation Marco Gangemi manages a modern cantina in the heart of Passopisciaro. In the historic port town of Riposto, the company operates a wine shop in a building that was once a scanno — a traditional establishment where patrons could rest and drink wine. The cellar uses chestnut as a regular part of its aging scheme and also serves as an incubator for new wineries. 49 hectares across five contrade: Passopisciaro, Feudo di Mezzo, San Lorenzo, Biancavilla, and Paterno. Vine training: alberello and cordon. Produces 350,000 bottles annually. Visits by request: vineyard tour, winery tour, wine tasting, lunch. Small (<15) and large (15+) groups. Event space, Wi-Fi, family and pet friendly. Languages: Italian, English, French. Wines to try: Koine Etna Rosso Riserva, Petralava Etna Rosso, 1877 Etna Metodo Classico Millesimato.
