Founded by Alberto Cusumano after visiting Mount Etna on multiple occasions over eight years, acquiring a terraced vineyard above Passopisciaro above the 1879 lava flow in Contrada Guardiola. The first harvest was carried out with equipment transported from Palermo, with initial vinification performed outside the winery due to space constraints. An eco-conscious, subterranean, gravity-operated winery was subsequently built on the estate.
