About
Founded 2005 by Michele Faro, whose grandfather hung edera (green ivy) outside the house to signal new wine was ready, selling one to twenty liters at a time to friends and family. Michele’s father focused on agriculture but not winemaking; Michele founded the estate to reconnect with that part of the family story. Family also owns Piante Faro, a nursery near the seaside. On Etna, Michele is a hunter, restorer, and promoter of old and abandoned vineyards — predominantly alberelli, with old vines allowed to produce at their own pace. New cellar in Solicchiata uses stainless steel, concrete vats, and French oak botti. 15 hectares across three contrade: Rampante, Santo Spirito, and Barbagalli. Vine training: alberello and cordon. Produces 50,000 bottles annually. Visits by request: vineyard tour, winery tour, wine tasting, lunch. Small (<15) and large (15+) groups. Event space. Languages: Italian, English. Wines to try: Archineri Etna Bianco, Archineri Etna Rosso, Rampante Etna Rosso, V. Barbagalli Etna Rosso.
