About

Founded 2006. Dr. Michele Pennisi, a cardiologist from around Randazzo, fell in love with a vineyard in Contrada Moganazzi, spending his free time caring for old vines. After 1994 he hired a local man named Vito to assist in the farming, transforming production. Dr. Pennisi’s three children continue to care for the property with Vito’s guidance. By 2012 the siblings had established a trio of wines focused on Etna’s indigenous varieties and traditions, released under the Don Michele label. Initially sold most grapes to local producers, making only 1,500 bottles for themselves; production has since grown to 4,000 bottles. The property includes an old palmento accessed by a rasola. 7 hectares in Contrada Moganazzi; vine training: alberello and cordon. Produces 4,000 bottles annually. No visit services offered. Wines to try: Etna Bianco, Etna Rosato, Etna Rosso.
