About
Winemaker Carlo Ferrini, after decades working in Sicily, climbed Etna and found a small vineyard on the north slope at 950 meters AMSL. From this site he bottled the first Nerello Mascalese under the Giodo label. Low-yielding 80-year-old alberello vines produce Alberelli di Giodo, currently bottled as DOC Sicilia. Carlo and daughter Bianca also make Brunello di Montalcino under the Giodo label in Tuscany. The flavorful Nerello and Sangiovese share the balance of hard work with a kiss of oak. Wine to try: Alberelli di Giodo Nerello Mascalese.
