About

Founded 2002 by Peter Wiegner, wife Laura Puccetti, and son Marco. Estate at 700 meters AMSL on Etna’s north slope. Nerello Mascalese planted 2002; chose Fiano — a white grape with affinity for volcanic soil — rather than Carricante. By 2004, vineyard also included Aglianico and Cabernet Franc, grown primarily in cordon and guyot on the higher plateau behind the modern winery. Wines lightly styled and fresh, resembling their environment: a breezy volcanic plateau surrounded by olive groves, fruiting cactus, ginestra, and roses. Guests can come for tastings and meals or stay overnight in the palmento-turned-cottage. 5.5 hectares across two contrade: Marchesa and Rampante. Vine training: alberello, Guyot, and cordon. Produces 25,000 bottles annually. Visits by request: vineyard tour, winery tour, palmento tour, wine tasting, lunch, dinner. Small groups (<15). Wi-Fi, pet friendly, overnight accommodations. Languages: Italian, English, French, German. Wines to try: Elisena Fiano, Treterre Etna Rosso, Rampante Cru Etna Rosso, Torquato Aglianico.
