About

Founded nineteenth century. Bruno Ferrara Sardo’s family has farmed the north slope for generations. Single vineyard producing a single Etna Rosso called ‘nzemmula, meaning together — a wine made not by numbers but through the sounds of work in the vineyard. As a child Bruno studied his grandfather’s movements and listened to the rhythms of the laborers; wine was always sold in sfuso. When Sardo opted to bottle, those sounds and memories guided his first vintages. 40- and 50-year-old Nerello vines in tall alberello reorganized into filare; new plants grafted to drought-resistant American rootstocks. Fine, fertile sands produce healthy yields; work lies in balancing the canopy, limiting overproduction, and moderating spontaneous flora. 1.2 hectares in Contrada Allegracore. Vine training: alberello in cordon. Produces 4,000 bottles annually. Visits by request: vineyard tour, wine tasting. Small groups (<15). Family and pet friendly. Languages: Italian, English, Spanish. Wine to try: 'nzemmula Nerello blend.
