The Scilio family has made wine in the hills outside Linguaglossa for five generations; Carricante and Nerello were almost always sold in bulk, with a portion set aside for the family. At the end of the twentieth century, old alberelli were reorganized into filare and trained on tension wires, the palmento transformed into a modern winery. The portfolio includes a red passito from an unknown black grape variety planted generations ago — Salvatore Scilio deliberately refrains from DNA analysis, saying not knowing adds a layer to the story.
