About

Founded 2004. Estate traces its origins to Pietro Patane, who returned to Sicily after fighting in WWI and laboring in Australian cane fields, settling on the family farm and palmento in Contrada Fossazza, Vena-Piedimonte Etneo. Wines initially sold locally in Vena then in Riposto. Estate passed through generations until 2004, when vines and terraces were reorganized to improve efficiency and quality, with simple modernizations, more time per vine, and minimal intervention in vinification. After years of selling bulk wine at local markets and fairs, production moved to bottled wine. Property includes a restored palmento. 2 hectares; vine training: cordon. Produces 3,000 bottles annually. Visits by request: vineyard tour, winery tour, palmento tour, wine tasting, lunch. Small groups (<15). Family friendly. Languages: Italian, English. Wines to try: Giretto Nerello Mascalese, Due Note Red Blend, Kephas Etna Rosso.
