Founded 18th century. The Romeo family has been part of the greater Randazzo community for centuries. Located between Castello Romeo and the Alcantara River. The heart of the estate was constructed as a masseria in the seventeenth century in Contrada Allegracore; additional construction continued into the twentieth century. Much of the facility is being converted into a living museum showcasing the agricultural and architectural heritage of the mountain, including personal effects left by WWII soldiers and an exhibit on Etna wine label history curated by co-owner Chiara Vigo. The March 1981 eruption covered more than 60 acres of the farm; that lava flow today embraces the old-vine Nerello vineyard. Each wine label features details of the main house, local lava flows, and family members. Also produces Goialuce acquavite from Coscia pears.
